Green Technology in the 21st Century

In the midst of what we consider one of the worst economic periods worldwide that we have ever seen and the escalating need for renewable energy sources, green technology will lead the way towards an environmental upheaval. As inhabitants of this world, it is our sole responsibility to make sure that our planet is taken care of and not taken advantage of.

Some people would say that going green is just a new trend and it’s another way for companies and businesses to make quick and lots of money. Opposing to what other people say, I believe that going green is the start of an environmental movement and the future generations will see immense changes in the way people think about the environment, in addition to what we are doing to preserve mother earth.

In the past few years we neglected and have not taken proper care of our environment. This is so because it hasn’t been convenient for us and no proper awareness was brought to people about how important it is to take care of our environment. But if one leader will stand out and can prove that dedication to the environment can pay off, more will follow.

The 21st century has truly been a good time in technological evolution. We've seen an explosion of technology in the last decade, and it's only getting more advanced. As we are ushered into a new technological era, we become more curious as to what innovations the green movement has in store for us and how far it will take us in the future.

Negligence in waste management posts serious effects not only in our environment but also in our health. Waste generation in the Philippines is increasing every year thus improvements in recycling, and waste management will become more important as garbage production continues to increase due to population growth and economic and technological developments.

Past efforts like campaigns, seminars and trainings to promote waste segregation and proper waste management have made minimal impact to pursue the objective of solving the garbage problem in the country.  This is so because waste management is still perceived by many as the responsibility of the government. Also public participation in waste management remains limited that is why there is a need to promote extensive awareness on how to solve waste problem in the country with a more strict enforcement of the law and local ordinances that must be followed.

Being aware of the importance of the environment’s immediate recovery and effects of improper waste management, there is a need for understanding and improvement of mind-sets and concern towards the protection of our environment. The impending garbage crisis can be prevented if we practice proper waste management. 

Biosphere Technology is one of the many rising technologies that can help us save garbage problem in our country. It turns waste into green energy through gasification process. This is a greenhouse gas-free process which is really a good thing. It does not only help us in waste management problem, it will also generate sustainable energy providing electricity and other byproducts that can be used in other industries.

I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom for me and you and I think to myself what a wonderful world. When I hear these lines of the song what a wonderful world, I imagine looking outside really seeing a wonderful world, waste-free and pollution-free. But back to reality, the world that was once wonderful has lost its wonder and beauty.

Being in an era where technological advancements progresses rapidly, more so is the increase in waste and pollution. We cannot deny the fact that these technological advancements made our lives and living easier.  But we cannot also deny the fact that these are the reason why the place we live in is damaged and continuously being harmed.

We must be cautious with our actions and think of the welfare of the coming generations. Good thing that there are companies that carries the advocacy of building a better world. Companies like SBSC (Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation) and TGEG (True Green Energy Group) endeavor to help us heal the world by employing the biosphere machine.
